Well done to all swimmers who competed last weekend at the SE London Winter Championships held at London Aquatic Centre , Stratford .
The Winter Championships qualifying and competing format is very different to majority of other Championships as swimmers are racing only in two age groups : Junior – 16 years and under and Senior – 17 years and over .
WSC was represented by 10 swimmers ranging from 13 to 17 years of age so huge congratulations to our youngest swimmers – Josh , Samuel , Evan and Agnes for having made the team .
We won two medals – both Silver :
George Harvey ( 17) in 400 IM event and Edward Henwood ( 16 ) in 100 IM event in the new Club Record time of 1.01.32 .
Other new Club Records are as follows :
Edward Henwood ( 16 years ) in 50 butterfly and 50 freestyle events in times of 26.31 and 25.05 respectively .
Joshua O’Donnell ( 13 years ) in 200 backstroke event in a time of 2.21.74.

There were four more Club Records set at different swim meets last month :
Joshua O’Donnell ( 13 years ) in 1500 freestyle event in a new time of 17:38.41
Max Sochovsky ( 16 years ) in 100 , 200 , and 400 freestyle events in times of 54.13 , 1:56.00 , and 4:09.76 respectively .

What a fantastic start to the season we have had !!!
Our swimmers competed in the first competition of the season – NUEL SC meet held at London Aquatic Centre over last weekend – Saturday 11 and Sunday 12 October .
There were some fantastic performances , tons of PBs, over a hundred medals and six new Club Records -all but one set by Edward Henwood ( 16 years ) in the following events :
50 backstroke in a time of 28.49
50 freestyle – 25.12
100 backstroke – 1.00.77
100 IM – 1.02.67
100 freestyle – 54.75
Elspeth Baumann ( 9 years ) added to the Club Records tally in 100 breaststroke event in a time of 1.39.87
We have won 107 medals overall : 39 GOLD – 35 SILVER – 33 BRONZE
Special mention must go to four swimmers who just between them ” collected ” 40 medals :
Josh O’Donnell ( 13 years age group ) -12 : 6 GOLD – 3 SILVER – 3 BRONZE
London Violet Payler ( 10 years ) – 11 : 3 – 2 – 6
Orin Lee – Megwan ( 10 years ) – 8 all GOLD !!!
Evan Sochovsky ( 14 years ) – 9 : 3 – 2 – 4

Our swimmers continued competing over three days of the Bank Holiday weekend at London Aquatic Centre , Stratford ; there were many superb swims and excellent performances from all.

latter in a new Club Record time of 31.05
Edward Henwood ( 16 years ) – 100 butterfly in a new Club Record time of 58.03
Giles Cunningham ( 17&over ) – 200 backstroke in a new Club Record time of 2.08.97

SILVER – Edward Henwood ( 16 years ) – 50 backstroke in a new Club Record time of 28.98
Samuel Liau ( 13 years ) – 100 backstroke

BRONZE – Oliver Cunningham ( 17&over ) – 100 backstroke in a new Club Record time of 59.85
Edward Henwood ( 16 years ) – 50 freestyle also in a new Club Record time of 25.46
Max Sochovsky ( 16 years ) – 200 backstroke
Max also set a new Club Record in 200 freestyle event in a time of 2.01.79

As a Club , Wandsworth SC finished 7th overall in Medal table – out of 36 medals scoring clubs !
This has been an outstanding achievement and an enormously promising step forward towards this Summer National Championships held in Sheffield in July / August .

Wandsworth SC had a fantastic start to the SE London Summer Championships 2025 held at London Aquatic Centre last weekend – Sat 26th / Sun 27th April .
Our swimmers won 8 medals – 4 GOLD – 2 SILVER – 2BRONZE and broke 6 Club Records !
The medallists are :
GOLD – Astrid Facius ( 16 years age group ) – in 50 and 100 backstroke events , both in new Club Records times of 30.28
1.06.14 respectively
Edward Henwood ( 16 years ) in 50 butterfly event also in a new Club Record time of 26.15
Samuel Liau ( 13 years ) in 50 breaststroke

SILVER – Max Sochovsky ( 16 years ) – in 100 freestyle with a new Club Record time of 55.67
Edward Henwood ( 16 years ) – in 200 butterfly and another Club Record time of 2.14.68

BRONZE – Edward Henwood ( 16 years ) – in 100 freestyle
