Five new Club Records – Guildford Level 2 Winter Meet

Five new Club Records – Guildford Level 2 Winter Meet

There were some superb swims at the Guildford Level 2 Winter Meet held over the weekend Sat 23 / Sun 24 November at Surrey Sports Park , Guildford .
This high level meet was also the last chance qualifier for the SE National Winter Meet taking place in Ponds Forge , Sheffield 5-8 December .
Our swimmers set five new Club Records :
Astrid Facius ( 15 years age group ) : 50 freestyle in a time of 27.75
50 and 100 backstroke in times of 29.02 and 1.03.18 respectively
Edward Henwood ( 15 years ) : 50 freestyle in a time of 25.43
Max Sochovsky ( 15 years ) : 200 backstroke in a time of 2.11.33 – the latter also being a National QT for the SE National Winter Meet .
and won six medals :
Astrid Facius ( 15 ) – gold in a 50 and silver in 100 backstroke events
Edward Henwood ( 15 ) – 2 silver in 50 and 100 butterfly events
Oliver Cunningham ( 17&over ) – silver in 200 backstroke
Max Sochovsky ( 15 ) – bronze in 200 backstroke
All four swimmers are heading out to Sheffield this week to represent WSC at the National Winter Meet .

The Royals Autumn Open Meet – results update

Well done to all our swimmers who competed last weekend – Sat 16 / Sun 17 at The Royals Autumn Open Meet held at the Elmbridge Xcel Leisure Centre.
There were many PB’s , some outstanding performances and a staggering number of medals won – 107 in total : 28 Gold – 32 Silver – 47 Bronze.
Special mention goes to London Violet Payler who won 12 medals : 8 Gold and 4 silver in the girls 9 years old age group.
Multiple medallists were ( winning five or more medals ) :
Orin Lee – Megwai ( 9 years ) – 7 : 3 Gold – 3 Silver – 1 Bronze
Annelin Tolle ( 9 years ) – 6 : 2 Gold – 3 Silver – 1 Bronze

NUEL meet – results updated

NUEL meet – great results at the first open meet of the season

Our swimmers got off to a great start to the new season at NUEL meet held at London Aquatic Centre at the weekend of 12 – 13 October .

Seven new Club Records were set :
Edward Henwood ( 15 years age group ) – in 50 freestyle and 200 butterfly events in times of 25.83 and 2.11.30 respectively
Oliver Cunningham ( 17 & over ) – in 400 freestyle and 200 backstroke events in times of 4.10.82 and 2.06.67 respectively
Max Sochovsky ( 15 years ) – in 200 backstroke in a time of 2.14.85
Samuel Liau ( 12 years ) – in 50 freestyle in a time of 28.64
George Harvey ( 15 years ) – in 50 backstroke in a time of 29.17

We won 58 medals in total : 20 Gold – 17 Silver – 21 Bronze and our multiple medallists were :
Max Sochovsky – 6 : 3 Gold – 3 Silver
Edward Henwood – 5 : 3 Gold – 2 Silver

Seven new Club Records – update results from the Swim England London Winter Championships

Huge congratulations to our JP2 and SP squads swimmers who competed last weekend 2 – 3 November at the SE London Winter Championships held at London Aquatic Centre .
Seven new Club Records have been set and they are as follows :
Oliver Cunningham ( 17&over age group ) – in all Backstroke events in times of 27.18 – 50m ( Silver medal ) , 58.14 – 100m and 2.05.19 ( Silver medal ) – 200m as well as in the 400 freestyle in a time of 4.09.99
Edward Henwood ( 15 years ) – in 50 freestyle and 50 backstroke events in times of 25.46 and 28.20 respectively
Max Sochovsky ( 15 years ) – in 200 backstroke in a time of 2.13.95 .
Oliver’s times are also Qualifying Times for the Swim England National Winter Championships – the biggest English swimming meets of the winter months which often welcomes a number of Great Britain’s top senior and junior swimmers .
Last year more than 3,600 swimmers entered the competition with Ponds Forge , Sheffield , hosting four days of exciting racing .
Oliver will be joined at the Winter Championships by Edward Henwood who qualified for the 100 and 200 butterfly events so far.
With one more qualifying competition to go there is still opportunity for swimmers to qualify and / or add more events .
Special mention goes to Evan Sochovsky who competed in the 50 backstroke event in the Junior age group ( 16 years and under ) despite only being 13.

Club Championships – session 1 and 2 update

Well done to all swimmers who competed in the first 2 sessions of our Club Championships last Saturday 21 September at JAGs Sports Centre , Dulwich .
It was absolutely fantastic to see swimmers from every squad and training pathway racing in a wide variety of events starting with the 25m of all strokes for our youngest participants aged 8 years & under and 400 IM for the more experienced ones and finishing with the 100m freestyle for all swimmers aged 9 years and over .
There were some fast swims , outstanding performances , tons of PBs as well as new times achieved for further meets in the season .
Four new Club Records were set :
Two by Edward Henwood ( 15 years ) in the 50 and 200 butterfly events in times of 26.56 and 2.15.21 respectively
One by Oliver Cunningham ( 17 & Over ) in 50 backstroke in a time of 27.78
One by Samuel Liau ( 12 years ) in 50 backstroke in a time of 32.56
What a start to the new season !
A massive thank you to the army of volunteers , marshals , both technical officials and non- technical support for devoting their Saturday to help with the smooth running of the competition .
We could not have done it without you .
We are looking forward to seeing everyone at the second round on Sunday 20 October as well as the 800m event and NUEL meet before that .
