The Royals New Year Meet 2023 – results update

Well done to all swimmers who competed at the very first meet of this year – The Royals New Year Meet held at Elmbridge Excel Leisure Centre last weekend 14/15 January .
A staggering 262 PB’s have been achieved , 46 medals : 20 GOLD – 12 SILVER – 14 BRONZE and one Club Record !
The new Record was set by Edward Henwood in the boys 13 years age group 200 Butterfly event in a time of 2:23.13.
Huge congratulations to our multiple medallists :
Edward Henwood – 8 – 5 GOLD and 3 SILVER|
Evan Sochovsky – 5 – 2 GOLD and 3 BRONZE
Giles Cunningham – 4 – 3 GOLD and 1 SILVER
Max Sochovsky – 3 – ALL GOLD
George Harvey – 2 – ALL GOLD
Oliver Cunningham -2 – 1 SILVER and 1 BRONZE
It was so great to see many of our youngest swimmers – many of whom from Development squads – gaining their swimming meet and racing experience ; no doubt more to come !
An enormous thank you to all our officials for dedicating their free time to help with a smooth and efficient running of the meet .

Bromley SC Christmas Gold Open 2022 – results summary

What a fantastic finale to the short course season !
4 new Club Records , 27 medals – 13 GOLD – 8 SILVER – 6 BRONZE , 54 PBs and multiple new County times is the overall success tally following last weekend Bromley SC Christmas Gold Open meet held at K2 Leisure Centre , Crawley .
All Club Records have been set by Edward Henwood from Junior Performance 2 squad who on top of that won all entered events in the boys 13 years age group and single – handedly scooped 10 gold medals !
The new Club Records are :
50 freestyle – in a time of 26.94
50 backstroke – 31.01
50 butterfly – 28.65
100 butterfly – 1.03.61.
Our 13 year old boys dominated the 50 backstroke race finishing 1st – Edward Henwood , 2nd – Bastiano Atti , and 3rd – Luke Curle – Wandsworth 1 – 2 – 3 !!!
There was a lot of excitement and extra motivation for swimmers who raced in the ” Hot Heats ” for additional prizes ;
our winners were : Ben Astbury – twice ( with one race won by the smallest of margins 0.01 sec ) , Alessio Carraretto and Olivia Hill – once (won again by 0.01 sec ) .
Well done to all those who competed ( Ben and Josh Astbury , Rahul Bansal , Bastiano Atti , Alessio Carraretto , Isis Ciurleo , Jack Clements , Luke Curle , Austen Gamble , George Harvey ,Edward Henwood , Olivia Hill , Leo Tamanji and Ruhan Wang ) and gained more racing experience ahead of the County and Regional Championships .
Huge thank you to our officials – Diletta , Jane and Matteo who dedicated their free time – with your help and expertise the meet was run smoothly and efficiently .

The Royals Autumn meet – results summary

206 PB’s , 73 medals and 2 new Club Records was the final outcome of the Royals Autumn Meet held at Elmbridge Excel Leisure Centre last weekend 19/20 November .
We had 2 days of fast swimming and some great performances from all those who raced and enjoyed our first Open meet of this season .
Our overall medal tally was 73 : 34 Gold – 18 Silver – 21 Bronze .
Two new Club Records have been set by : Edward Henwood in the 13 year old boys 200 Butterfly in a time of 2:23.18 and Giles Cunningham in the 17&over boy 50 Backstroke in a time of 28.17.
Both Edward and Giles were also our multiple medallists winning 5 gold medals ( in every event entered ) each .
Our other multiple medallists were :
Rahul Bansal who won 10 medals overall in the boys 12 years age group – 5 Gold and 5 Silver
Ginevra Longo who won 5 medals in the girls 10 years age group – 4 Gold and 1 Silver
Special mentioning must go to our youngest swimmers – for many of whom this was the very first competition outside the club – not only for great swimming performances but also for an excellent behaviour and sportsmanship by staying with the team and supporting each other .
An outstanding well done to Alessandro Yu Spagnolo ( 9 years age group ) for winning two gold medals in 100 and 200 Breaststroke , Can Tetik ( 9 years age group ) two bronze medals in 100 Backstroke and 200 Freestyle , Declan Martin ( 9 years age group ) gold in 50 Breaststroke – despite swimming the whole race without goggles ! and Ellie Perrott ( 9 years age group ) bronze in 100 Freestyle .
Well done to all swimmers and a huge thank you to our officials for dedicating their free time to help run the meet smoothly and efficiently !

Two new Club Records at the Swim England London Winter Championships

Two new Club Records have been set by Edward Henwood – Junior Performance 2 squad – at the SE London Winter Championships held over last weekend 5/6 November at the Glass Mill Leisure Centre , Lewisham .
Edward was competing in the 16&under age group and being just 13 years of age was one of the youngest swimmers qualified for the Regional Championships .
His two new Club Records ( both Short Course ) are in the 100 and 200 butterfly events in impressive times of 1:03.94 and 2:24.09 respectively !
Well done Edward !!!
Special mentioning must go to Giles Cunningham – Senior Performance squad – for making the final in the 17&over age group in the 100m backstroke event and finishing in a very respectful 6th place in a time of 1.00.41.

Two new Club Records !

Well done to Edward Henwood from Junior Performance 2 squad for breaking two Club Records in the 13 years age group at the Sprint with The Stars meet held at the London Aquatics Centre on 3rd September .
The new Records times are :
50 Butterfly 29.65
50 Backstroke 32.00

Max Morgan is double British Champion and new London Record holder !!!

Max Morgan – Junior Performance 2 squad – has become a double British Champion at the Speedo British Summer Championships 2022 held at Ponds Forge , Sheffield 22-28 July .
Max won gold in both 50 and 100 breaststroke events in the boys 13/14 years age group in absolutely outstanding times of 30.76 and 1.07.35 respectively – the latter being the new London Boys Junior Long Course Record !
He also took a silver in 200 breaststroke in a great time of 2.29.89 finishing his first ever championships at national level with three medals out of three events he qualified for .
It goes without saying that the times swam by Max’s are his PB’s as well as WSC new Club Records in the boys 14 years age group .
Max’s performance was nothing short of perfection , he has shown amazing racing skills and psychological maturity throughout the Championships and proved that with the right attitude , dedication and commitment in your every day training tasks you can achieve excellence !
Well done Max – huge congratulations !!!
