Five new Club Records and 50 medals for our swimmers at Sutton & Cheam meet

Last weekend – 9/10 July – our swimmers from all squads competed at Sutton & Cheam meet held at Westcroft Leisure Centre .
Despite scorching temperatures , both outdoor and indoor , we had a great meet with 126 PB’s , 5 new Club Records and 50 medals : 18 gold – 14 silver – 18 bronze .
Huge congratulations to Edward Henwood from Junior Performance 2 squad – who single – handedly won 5 gold medals and set 2 new Club Records in the 13 years age group in 50 and 100m butterfly events in outstanding times of 29.66 and 1.04.73 respectively !
Other Club Records were set by :
Ginevra Longo – 9 years age group – JP1 squad – in 100 backstroke in a time of 1.26.05
Giles Cunningham – 17 & over age group – SD squad – in 50 backstroke in a time of 28.39
Oliver Cunningham – 15 years age group – JP2 squad – in 50 backstroke in a time of 29.91

Our medallists were :
Virgile Alexandre – 8 , Rahul Bansal – 5 Olivia Hill – 4 , Giles Cunningham – 4 , Zoya Kalisvaart – 4 ,Tane Dyce – Crichlow -4 , Oliver Cunningham – 3 , Ernest Hill – 3 , Ana Lane – 3 , Ginevra Longo -2 , Austen Gamble – 2 , Ellie Perrot – 1 , Eleanor Sparkes – 1, Irene Pagni – 1

Three new Club Records and 18 medals at the NUEL National Qualifier meet

WSC swimmers had another successful meet with tons of PB’s , 3 new Club Records and 18 medals following the NUEL National Qualifier Open held last weekend at the LAC , Stratford .
Special mentioning must go to Edward Henwood ( 13 years age group , Junior Performance 2 squad ) who – single – handedly – won 10 medals : 5 golds – in 200 back , 200 freestyle and all three butterfly events – the 200 , the 100 ,and the 50m events , 3 silver – in 50 free , 400 IM and 100 back , and 2 bronze – in 100 free and 50 back .
In addition to that tally Edward set new Club Record in 50 fly event in an excellent time of 30.41 !
Our other medallists were :
Max Morgan ( 14 years age group , Junior Performance 2 squad ) : 2 golds – in 100 brst and 200 IM , and a silver in 100 free
Olivia Hill ( 16 years age group , Senior Performance squad ) : a silver in 400 free and 3 bronze – in 100 fly , 1500 and 800 free – the last in a new Club Record time of 9:54.26
Virgile Alexandre ( 16 years age group , Senior Performance squad ) : a bronze in 400 freestyle event and a new Club Record in 50 fly event in a time of 29.41

Easter weekend training reminder

There is no training for any squads over Easter weekend – Sat 16th – Mon 18th April inclusive .
Friday 15th April – training is on for JP2 / SP swimmers ONLY – 4-6pm at PLC .

Outstanding performances at the Swim England London Summer Championships 2022 – final weekend

What a weekend we had to wrap up the London Summer Championships 2022 held at the London Aquatic Centre – the home pool of the 2012 Olympics .
Two Club Records , two gold , two bronze medals and many finals were added to WSC success !
Max Morgan – 14 years old age group – completed a breaststroke ” hat – trick ” by winning both the 50 and the 100m events in respective times of 31.81 and 1.08.42 – the latter being an absolutely outstanding time and the new Club Record !
Edward Henwood – 13 years age group – added three medals to the overall tally – having swam a perfect race in both 200m events – a fantastic gold in 200 butterfly in a time of 2.30.80 and two bronzes – in 200 backstroke in a time of 2.36.04 and 50 butterfly in a new Club Record time of 30.44 !
Our team of six boys – Max Morgan , Edward Henwood , Ernie Hill , Rahul Bansal , Jake Backshall and Bastiano Atti – exceeded all expectations and ranked WSC 8th out of 28 clubs in London Region .
We have once again punched above our weight to show the quality of swimming our Club represents !
Let’s keep up the good work towards the Summer British and National Championships .
