Outstanding performances at the Swim England London Summer Championships 2022 – final weekend

What a weekend we had to wrap up the London Summer Championships 2022 held at the London Aquatic Centre – the home pool of the 2012 Olympics .
Two Club Records , two gold , two bronze medals and many finals were added to WSC success !
Max Morgan – 14 years old age group – completed a breaststroke ” hat – trick ” by winning both the 50 and the 100m events in respective times of 31.81 and 1.08.42 – the latter being an absolutely outstanding time and the new Club Record !
Edward Henwood – 13 years age group – added three medals to the overall tally – having swam a perfect race in both 200m events – a fantastic gold in 200 butterfly in a time of 2.30.80 and two bronzes – in 200 backstroke in a time of 2.36.04 and 50 butterfly in a new Club Record time of 30.44 !
Our team of six boys – Max Morgan , Edward Henwood , Ernie Hill , Rahul Bansal , Jake Backshall and Bastiano Atti – exceeded all expectations and ranked WSC 8th out of 28 clubs in London Region .
We have once again punched above our weight to show the quality of swimming our Club represents !

Great success at first weekend of Swim England London Summer Championships 2022

WSC swimmers had a very promising start to the SE London Summer Championships 2022 held over last weekend at K2 Leisure Centre , Crawley .
Our Age Group ( 11- 14 years old ) boys’ team – small but what proved to be extremely strong – have had some fantastically fast swims which resulted in one new Club Record and 4 medals :
Ernie Hill ( 13 years age group ) – GOLD in 1500 free and SILVER in 800 free events
Edward Henwood ( 13 years age group ) – SILVER in 100 fly in an excellent time of 1.07.64
Max Morgan ( 14 years age group ) – GOLD in 200 breaststroke in an absolutely outstanding time of 2.35.03 – a new Club Record !
Fifth medal was added by Olivia Hill ( 16 years age group ) who won silver in the 1500 free event .
The boys also made finals in the following events :
Edward in 200 and 400 IM , Ernie in 400 IM and Max in 200 IM and 100 freestyle .

More medals and another Club Record at the last weekend of the Surrey Championships

What a fantastic ending to the Surreys !
Seven more medals were added and one Club Record was set at the last weekend of the County Championships held at the Surrey Sports Park , Guildford .
Olivia Hill ( 16 years age group ) set a new Club Record in the longest pool event – the 1500 freestyle in a time of 19:03.86 which also gave her a silver medal .
Our other medallists were :
Rahul Bansal ( 12 years age group ) GOLD in 200 fly
Ernie Hill ( 13 years age group ) SILVER in 800 free
Edward Henwood ( 13 years ) – 3 BRONZE in 100 and 200 fly and 200 IM
Max Morgan ( 14 years ) – 2 BRONZE in 200 and 400 IM
Huge congratulations to our boys who finished overall in the 8th place ( out of 22 clubs ) in the final team rankings – this was the result of the following Individual Age Group Rankings :
Max Morgan – 2nd in the 14 years age group
Edward Henwood – 4th in the 13 years age group
Ernie Hill – 5th in the 13 years age group
Rahul Bansal – 8th in the 12 years age group
WELL DONE EVERYONE and keep up the good work towards the Regional and National Championships !

Three more Club Records and more medals at the Surrey Championships

Second weekend of Surrey Championships took our swimmers to the London Aquatic Centre – the home pool of the 2012 Olympics .
Again , some great performances , lots of PB’s and fantastic team spirit !
Three more Club Records were broken :
Max Morgan ( 14 years age group ) in 50 breaststroke in an absolutely outstanding time of 31.30
Giles Cunningham ( 17& over age group ) in 50 backstroke in a time of 29.62
Elliott Hampton ( 17&over age group ) in 50 butterfly in a time of 28.08

Our swimmers also added three more medals to the overall tally :
One gold – Max Morgan in 50 breaststroke and two silver – Edward Henwood ( 13 years age group ) in 50 butterfly and 50 backstroke

The relays events were extremely exciting and we had quite a few fast swims resulting in top 8 finishes :
6th place – Boys 12-13 Freestyle relay ( Ernie Hill , Rahul Bansal , Pietro Marzeglia and Edward Henwood )
Boys U/16 Medley relay ( Noah Hagberg , Max Morgan , Edward Henwood , Benjy Street )
7th place – Girls 10-11 Medley Relay ( Evan Sochovsky , Eleanor Sparkes , Arabella Adams , Ginevra Longo )
Boys U/16 Freestyle Relay ( Max Morgan , Tane Dyce-Crichlow , Ernie Hill , Benjy Street )
Well done everyone !!!
Hope you all enjoyed the atmosphere and had a taste of some stiff competition at the County level .

Great weekend for WSC swimmers at the Surreys

First weekend of the Surrey County Age Group Championships 2022 was held at the Surrey Sports Park in Guildford last Sat 5th and Sun 6th February .
We had some great performances and fast swims from all our swimmers across a variety of events .
Huge congratulations to Max Morgan ( 14 years age group , Junior Performance 2 squad ) for not only winning 2 gold medals in both 100 and 200 breaststroke events in an outstanding times of 1:11.43 and 2:40.52 respectively but also breaking a Club Record in the 100 breaststroke as well as winning a Top Junior Breaststroke Trophy !!!
What an excellent achievement !
Another gold medal went to Ernie Hill ( 13 years , Junior Performance 2 squad ) in the longest swimming event in the pool – the 1500m freestyle – well done Ernie !
Our 2nd multiple medallist was Edward Henwood ( 13 years , Junior Performance 2 squad ) who at his first ever Surreys bagged three medals – 2 silver in 200 backstroke and freestyle and a bronze in 400 freestyle
Last medal of the weekend for WSC was added by Olivia Hill ( 16 years , Senior Performance squad ) in the 800 freestyle event in the new Club Record time of 9:58.86
Every WSC swimmer made at least one final in their entered events so huge well done to Elliott Hampton , Jake Backshall , Josh Astbury , Virgile Alexandre and Rahul Bansal – immensely proud of everyone !
Let’s keep up the great work towards week 2 and 3 of the Surreys ! ( and beyond that )

More success for WSC swimmers – The Royals New Year Meet 2022

Our swimmers got off to an excellent start of the new year by smashing 140 PB’s , winning 66 medals ( 28 GOLD – 17 SILVER – 21 BRONZE ) and breaking two Club Records at the Royals New Year Meet 2022 held over last weekend 15/16 January at the Elmbridge Xcel Leisure Centre .

Huge congratulations to Max Morgan and Edward Henwood ( both JP2 squad ) for breaking Club Records :
Max in the boys 14 years age group 100 breaststroke event in an outstanding time of 1:09.32
Edward in the boys 12 years age group 400IM event in a time of 5.41.10

Special mentioning must go to Olivia Hill ( SP squad ) who won 10 gold medals in ALL entered events in the girls 15 years age group !
Our other multiple medallists were :
Edward Henwood ( 12 years age group ) 9 gold – 2 silver
Elliott Hampton ( 16&over ) 4 gold
Jake Backshall ( 12 years ) 3 gold – 2 silver – 2 bronze
Max Morgan ( 14 years ) 2 gold – 1 silver – 1 bronze
Tom Street ( 16&over ) 2 gold – 1 silver – 1 bronze
Josh Astbury ( 15 years ) 1 gold – 4 silver
Tane Dyce – Crichlow ( 14 years ) 1 gold – 4 bronze
Ana Lane ( 14 years ) 1 gold – 2 silver
Virgile Alexandre ( 15 years ) 2 silver – 2 bronze
Very well done to our two youngest swimmers – Arabella Adams and Ginevra Longo who , in their very first competition outside the club , won 4 medals between them in the girls 9 years age group :
Arabella 1 gold , 1 silver and 1 bronze in 50 back , 50 free and 50 fly events respectively and Ginevra in 100 backstroke .
What a weekend we had !!!
Last , but not least , a huge thank you to the Club officials for dedicating their weekend to ensuring that the competition was run smoothly , efficiently , and professionally .
